The Gold Book
This book, (sponsored by the American Legion Auxillary of Post 70
and assisted by the Oberlin, Decatur County Kansas Businessmen),
is the natural follow up to a sign which was erected on the grounds of
the Courthouse here in Oberlin, during and after W.W.II.

The  Gold Star, "" was to signify killed or missing in action.
The sign is lost, a victim of the ravages of time and the Gold book
has never been up-dated to include the wars or conflicts in which the
Nation has been involved since. It is the intention of the Men and
women of Post 70, ( with the help of contributors and donations
to our Memorial Fund), to rectify this and to re-instill a sense
of patriotic pride in those families whose fathers, mothers, sons
and daughters have sacrificed so much for the rest of the nations'
security and preservation.
